Gingerbread Houses

This is Kirsten and Joshua with their gingerbread houses we made this year.

"The rock"

The kids have made a trail up the hill behind our house up to what they call "the rock". Other children call this our "mountain." Here's some pictures of the kids going up the hill, and a couple on top. The one of Laura was taken the first time she climbed up there, and was proudly saying "
Ta-Da!"

Favorite Halloween Pictures

Here's our favorite Halloween pictures from this year. We made all our costumes from things we already had. I'm most proud of Joshua's spider costume that was made using some of Kirsten and Ben's old clothes. If you can't tell what Laura was that's because we don't know either. We just put on all the things she wanted, and she was some sort of fairy, princess, angel, butterfly thing, but she thought she was beautiful!

First parade

Here's Joshua and Laura at their first parade. Kirsten was riding in the parade (unfortunately we were on the wrong side of the road and couldn't get a good picture of her.) As you can see, Joshua didn't care for the noise, but Laura had a great time.

This is what Joshua looked like after tripping over his own feet at church and landing his face on the corner of a piano bench! We had to take him to the hospital and have his face glued back together. That's gonna leave a mark!

It wasn't perfect, but for a completely non artistic person I don't think it turned out too bad--thanks to simple step by step instructions from a book Ben's grandma gave me.

Okay, so I figure we've been in the house for almost 3 months now--it's about time I put some pictures on the blog. Here's a few. We're loving having our own space, with no neighbors to worry about downstairs! We couldn't be happier!

Snow Day

We had a snow day this last Sunday! We got about 4 inches of snow! I know to some of you that's nothing, but it's a HUGE deal here in Georgia. School was canceled the next day and everything. Here's the kids have a great time in the snow.

At the park

Yesterday I took my kids to the park with a friend. We had a great time, and I got some really fun pictures I wanted to share. I got several comments about the climing abilities of Laura--she was climing right up on those big slides all by herself, and even going down them. All the other children her age could barely get up to the baby slides without help. It was amazing to watch her, and a little unnerving at the same time!

Laura and piano lessons

I didn't realize how much attention Laura pays to me teaching lessons until yesterday. Every once in a while I put pennies on my piano students' hands while they are playing to remind them to keep their wrists up and fingers curved. They have to play without letting the pennies fall off. Well, yesterday I had been using pennies, and one was left on the piano. Laura got up on the piano bench, put the penny on one of her hands, and proceeded to gently play without losing the penny! She's 18 months old, and was playing with perfect postion, and without banging. She's not making music, but she's certainly getting the idea! It's amazing what she is capable of already!

Laura and the bathtub

So, I had to write about this, because I'm sure anyone who has children can appreciate this. I bath all my kids separately. I don't like Joshua having a bath with the girls, and it works better to bath Kirsten before school in the morning, and I like to do Laura in the evenings. Anyway, I started with Laura tonight. I got her all cleaned up and in the her pajamas. I went to clean something up really quick before starting Joshua, but he went ahead and got started himself, as he likes to do. I went in a few minutes later to find Laura, still fully clothed in her clean pajamas, in the tub again! She's gotten very fast about getting in there. She then laid on her belly in the bathtub, and started moving her arms like she was swimming. She was having the time of her life. I called Ben in so he could see, since the damage was already done. Then I took her out, and stripped her out of her sopping wet pajamas and diaper. When I turned to get her a clean diaper she jumped back in the tub again! Boy was she mad when I took her out! She's getting to be quite a handful. If she wasn't so darn cute I'd be really mad at her a lot of the time!

Officially out of the baby stage

Well, it's official. We are out of the baby stage! We got rid of our crib and changing table yesterday. The girls' room now looks like a little girls' room, instead of an overflowing nursery. I thought I would maybe feel a little sad, but being the freak I am about clutter, it makes me thrilled to overflowing to have all that extra space in my house. It's also nice that we won't have to move those huge things again! I like that Laura can now come to me in the middle of the night instead of me getting out of my bed, that I feel I spend far too little time with anyway.

Kirsten has loose teeth!

So, I discovered last night that Kirsten has her first 2 loose teeth! She is so excited. She wants everyone to know about it. I feel a little weird. It's a sign to me that she's growing up, and I'm not sure how much I like it. I'll be sure to post a picture when they fall out. I'm sure she'll be happy to pose for that one!

Kirsten Bowling

Our kids love bowling. Here is Kirsten bowling. She is actually pretty good--especially with the bumper lanes, and stand. As long as she's winning she really likes it, but when she starts losing it's not so fun.

My kids love to entertain, especially when I get the camera out. Here's a couple of videos of them goofing around. Normally they can sing much better, but there's something about trying to get it on video that seems to destroy their abilities. However, it's still funny to watch...

Laura and the peach

I had Laura in the grocery store with me a few weeks ago. I put her in the back of the cart, because she stands up in the little seat, and I worry about her falling out of it. Anyway, I put a bag of peaches in the seat, and then turned to look at something else. Then I hear Laura saying "mmmm, mmmm". I turn around to see her eating a big peach. I took it away from her, and put the peaches in the bottom of the cart. After I checked out and was loading the groceries she got the same peach out again. This is a picture of her enjoying her peach.

Okay, I just want to see if I can actually post a message with a picture. Here's a recent picture of the kids. Yes, they look horrible, but this is a pretty accurate picture of life at the Ledford home every afternoon. We may look crazy, but we're happy, well fed, and loved, so life is good!

Catchin up with the rest of the world

Okay, we're going to try catching up with the rest of the world by having a blog. I hope this is a better way to keep in touch with all my friends and family, let you all know what's up with the Ledford's, and share our recent pictures.
